Our Church Mission

“We believe we are called to serve all of God’s people beyond the walls of our church, into the community. We achieve this through bible study, prayer, training and service. Empowered by the Holy Spirit, we share the gospel message of salvation through word, thought and deed, as we make disciples in Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.”

Our Church Life

Our church has enjoyed a rich history of standing in the grace of God since the merger of two churches; Westlawn and Greenfield United Methodists on February 27, 1977 created Peoples United Methodist Church.  We have taken seriously Christ’s charge to be faithful disciples working in God’s vineyard, the church community.  We are a church that engages with the life of our community.  We minister in various ways to youth so that they know that they are valued and can see life move positively in the world around them.

We are Christians when Love is our Attitude, Prayer is our Habit,
and Faith becomes a testimony of commitment, and Service to others.

~ As United Methodists we share a common heritage with all Christians ~

We believe in God as a Trinity – three persons in one; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  Therefore, we understand God as creator, sustainer and Lord of all that exists.  We believe that through God’s Son Jesus Christ, God’s love is revealed in the world for all creation, sin is judged, and through faith in Christ, humanity is redeemed from sin and reconciled with God.

We believe that the Holy Spirit is God’s active presence in the world, that the Spirit is our companion, guide, teacher, comforter and source of strength on our Christian walk as we answer Jesus Christ’s call to engage the world in the mission of the Church.  It is the Holy Spirit that equips us with spiritual gifts, talents and abilities that enables us to be the body of Christ; his heart, hands, and feet in the world in love.

We believe that God created human beings in God’s image, Therefore, all human beings are of sacred worth.  We believe that humans can choose to accept or reject a relationship with God but that all humans need to be in relationship with God in order to be fully human.  To that end, our understanding of the mission of the Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world and we preach, teach, proclaim and live out the good news of God’s grace through Jesus’ command to love God and neighbor in our worship and mission work in the church community (© 2020 – www.umc.org).
